DJ Black Coffee Accused of Supporting Euphonik
DJ Black Coffee caught heavy flak from social media users after booking DJ Euphonik at his birthday bash.
It all started when the 45-year-old record producer took to Twitter on Wednesday, 10 March, to share a poster for his birthday-themed event, “Deep in the City”, which will take place this Sunday, 14 March, in Braamfontein.
However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the name “Themba” was listed in the line-up of advertised performers.
This refers to Themba Nkosi – the real name of DJ Euphonik, who was accused, along with DJ Fresh, earlier this year of raping a woman in 2011.
Now, fans are accusing Black Coffee of not only supporting an alleged rapist, but also booking him under his real name to deflect any drama.
One user scathingly wrote: “Men don’t care shem [sic]. Not even the ones that pretend to be for justice.”
Another wrote: “Was using his name Themba (& [sic] not Euphonik) a way to not show people that you’re actively supporting an abuser?”
Black Coffee has yet to publicly comment on the backlash.
